On a recent day hike with some friends we followed the 11.5 mile round-trip Huachuca Crest Trail that provides spectacular views into southern Arizona and Mexico. It was an amazing hike with many memorable moments, but what I found surprising from a technical view was the images I was able to produce with my iPhone.
Scott Bourne often says that the best camera is the one you have with you. I had my trusty, and aging, Cannon D350 equipped with my Cannon EF 28-135mm IS glass, but I also shot with my iPhone to live-stream the trip to facebook. The results are really quite amazing.
I’ve photographed in this area many times before, but never from this particular trail. The trip itself was enjoyable and satisfying. Conquering the trail in just under six hours was a feat to be remembered. I’m also happy with the photographs I had the opportunity to make.
